The Arabian Oryx is one of the natural conservation priorities in the region because of its heritage and biological value. The General Secretariat for the Conservation of the Arabian Oryx has been established in 2001 as a regional initiative aimed at coordinating and unifying the Arabian Oryx conservation efforts in the Arabian Peninsula.
