Technical Advisory Group

The General Secretariat for the Conservation of the Arabian Oryx (GSCAO) invites conservation managers, wildlife researchers, field biologists, veterinarians, public awareness officers and other conservation specialists who work for Arabian Oryx breeding facilities and reintroduction programmes to voluntarily contribute to its regional efforts.

Examples of required contributions include:

  • Develop and review population management guidelines covering specific Oryx conservation
  • Translate Arabian Oryx conservation documents
  • Provide media materials including photos and videos from Arabian Oryx conservation sites
  • Share case studies
  • Provide scientific publications

GSCAOs’ research areas include:

  • Reintroduction
  • Conservation breeding
  • Housing and husbandry guidelines
  • Veterinary care
  • Genetic management
  • Conservation planning
  • Wildlife records keeping
  • Wildlife monitoring and ranger training
  • Wildlife law enforcement
  • Conservation education
  • Capacity building
