Arabian Oryx reintroduction Programme of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, was established in 2007 under the patronage and management of the Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD). The Programme aims at releasing Arabian Oryx in their natural habitats across the range states and establish viable populations that can independently survive desert conditions under effective conservation management plans. The first group of Arabian Oryx from this conservation programme consisted of 98 individuals and were reintroduced into the Arabian Oryx Protected Area in Abu Dhabi in 2007. The programme then carried out several successful release initiatives in UAE and in other range states including Sultanate of Oman and the Hashemite Kingdom of Joran to increase the wild populations.By the end of May 2022, the Arabian Oryx reintroduction Programme of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan successfully released a total of 437 Oryx in several reserves in the Arabian Peninsula.
